My Path

For more than 25 years, I have walked alongside people through some of the most vulnerable and extraordinary moments of their lives. As a Registered Nurse, my career has taken me through trauma and critical care, international flight medicine, the Canadian Arctic, and the deeply human world of palliative care.

My nursing journey has taken me through some unexpected and deeply meaningful places. I began in critical care, caring for people and their families through burns, trauma, complex injuries, and moments when life could change in an instant. From there, curiosity—and perhaps a little adventurous spirit—led me from Texas to the Bay Area and back to Canada, and eventually into flight medicine, transporting patients across borders and working within different healthcare systems, cultures, languages, and environments.

I then found myself in the Arctic, working in medevac and alongside northern and Inuit communities, where I was fortunate to experience healthcare in some of the most remote and remarkable places in the country.

Eventually, my path brought me home to London and into palliative care, where I discovered a different kind of nursing—one centred less on fixing and more on listening, accompanying, and being present. It has become one of the most meaningful chapters of my career, and I feel incredibly honoured to have walked alongside people and their families through some of life’s most tender and profound moments..
